Urdu is deteriorating during the past half century

Hyderabad, (Siasat News) Although the geographical boundaries of Urdu are expanding but its linguistic boundaries are not expanding adequately. One of the important reasons is that the translation of the terminology of the new sciences is not gaining currency in the world.

There is a need to work for the promotion and sustenance of Urdu at International levels, otherwise it may not be possible for the friends of Urdu to convey their linguistic and cultural heritage to the younger generation.

These thoughts were expressed by the universally famous Urdu scholar Prof. Gopi Chand Narang at a meeting in Siasat office with Mr. Zahid Ali Khan, Editor Siasat. Allama Ajaz Farukh was also present at the meeting.

Prof. Gopi Chand Narang told that Urdu itself cannot make its future better. It has to be done by the architects of Urdu. He also said that this gigantic work can’t be done by a single individual or an institution but concerted joint efforts of many organizations is needed for this. The lovers of Urdu should not hesitate to undertake this task.

Mr. Zahid Ali Khan told that non-availability of primary education in Urdu is also a reason for the deterioration of standard of Urdu. If the foundation of Urdu is weak, the existence of Urdu University would be meaningless.

There should be a balance of demand and supply of Urdu education. It is also necessary to associate the students of Urdu with employment opportunities.

Allama Ajaz Farukh expressed his wonder that CBSE course provides Urdu as one the optional subject whereas Govt. of A.P. whose second official language is Urdu does not offer Urdu at Secondary education level. Inviting the attentionof Mr. Zahid Ali Khan Allama Ajaz Farukh said ‘Siasat’ is a widely read Urdu newspaper throughout India. It is therefore, necessary that a conference of Urdu editors of International level be organized to pass resolutions for popularizing Urdu.

Agreeing to this proposal, Mr. Zahid Ali Khan said that a conference will be organized in the last week of November 2011.
